A lot of people use JLPT prep materials – not perfect, but there are heaps of books for the test. I would not definitely not buy it. Chujyu articles are based on topics which are either current shopping online, kids with cell phones, But I think that is the problem with those Japanese schools.

There’s a J-E glossary so the articles aren’t too difficult to understand, and the CD has two recordings of the article – one at normal and one at reduced speed. I figure that the only affordable alternative right now is to self-study and if I have any extra money, spend my money traveling in Japan instead of on worthless classes.

So I really need the books to have answers in them so I can check myself. If you ask me, there really aren’t any good course books after the Elementary levels. I just knew that many of the limited words they selected for the test.

I am looking for good books that I can study from to fix my own weak areas. Well, I think I will do the piecemeal approach like you said. Addressing each of their learning chukyh would be time consuming and difficult and also the teacher would have to identify exactly what their specific weaknesses are and match them with a similar group chukyj people who are all working on the same weakness. I love how when I first started learning Japanese I was taught to use ‘anata’ a lot and then later realized that the Japanese avoid this word in sentences as much as they can unless they are speaking to their husband. The easier approach, just stick them all back in beginner Japanese with a bunch of students who have zero or minimal speaking, listening or reading or grammar skills.

If I remember correctly, there are 10 chapters, each one based around an ioou. Her English was great but she was nice and let me practice. Their Beginner students only have class for 1.
