There was a problem filtering reviews right now. It’s not like this book is light and fluffy. Our Father sees us in color. We love, we hurt, we heal, we deny ourselves and we’re beautifully broken. To add salt to the wound, he leaves the older wife who can’t wnston children for the younger woman who can.
I enjoyed “Good Grief” very much, so I was hoping I’d like this book, too. Matters aren’t helped by the fact that Ted’s mistress is a beautiful, kindhearted woman with a ten-year-old boy who’s fallen head-over-heels for him.
Sometimes bawdy, sometimes moving, always hilarious, this is a charming, generous book.
Mar 30, Karen rated it liked it Shelves: I snapped this book up because I’d enjoyed Good Grief and parts of the story continue to come back to me, so Lolly Winston’s next was a definite buy. Good although sad until the end, where there wasn’t any. There is no way all the characters in this book can end up happy, just as everyone jappiness real life cannot end up happy.

But isn’t that what the book was all about? These are some of the questions that I thought about while reading it: Do marriages just kind of fizzle out? Get to Know Us. Because he is winstno angry and lashing out in rage about his parent situation and his bad school situation. I also empathized with Gina, who was frustrated with Ted’s inability to commit to her even though come on, what are the odds? The story was tangible and real. After reading “Happiness Sold Separately”, I came to the following conclusions.

I always found myself in a bad mood after I read it. This is another book about infertility and the stresses it puts on a marriage much like “Waiting for Daisy” except this is fiction. This was an interesting take on looking at people who are extremely controlling but yet, at the same time, very uncontrolled individually.
Actually, in her more honest moments, Elinor will admit that the marriage has been in trouble for some time. Endless rounds of failed fertility treatment have left her and Ted numb, retreating to their separate corners.

Yes, this is a duplicate of the review I wrote for Winston’s debut novel: Nov 19, Carmen rated it liked it Recommends it for: I must admit I was disappointed with the “Walk out into everyday life” sort of ending for both books, where there wasn’t really a clear and concise resolution, BUT, it wasn’t until after I read her second work–and felt the same sense of frustration and being cheated out of the ‘happily-everafter-ending’–that I realized the sheer genius behind her stories: That would truly be a surprise ending in this day and age.

They all do stupid stuff. This ends in the middle of a paragraph, no resolution, closure, or anything else, just.
This was such a chick lit book that I was able to tell my doctor to stop my estrogen replacement therapy–I was awash in the stuff. Winston Good Grief adroitly makes it clear that Ted’s affair is a symptom: I believe I may have wniston color-blind then. This book was passed to me by a friend.
