I assume this would have been even more enjoyable if the heroine were more likable. This book is really a 3 but I am giving the extra star to Stephen. This heroine vvelvet unusually given the title of Laird, her father choosing her to be head of their clan rather than her brother, which made said brother feel salty towards her.

Also, view spoiler [when Stephen got hit in the head or back of the head and it continues to ache He was a real nice guy, the kind of man any woman would be happy to velveg in real life. ihghland Deveraux manages to evoke a strong and convincing atmosphere for each of her books, but her dialogue and characters are as familiar as a modern-day soap opera’s. Jude Deveraux steps back to a time and place where revenge and rivalry rule men’s hearts—and love conquers all—in this wonderful Montgomery novel.

It was okay, just not what I was expecting My tastes have changed so much through the years–who knows what I’d think if I read this series now. What’s more, his love for and patience with Bronwyn never seemed to waver despite her antics.

While I’ve always appreciated alpha females, Bronwyn is just too stubborn and a little childish. The best part of Velvet Angel is that it brought all the four Montgomery brothers and their respective wives together at the end.


Yet still she would resist him. Jude has lived in several countries and all over the United States. After over twenty plus years, Stephen Montgomery remains one of my most beloved heroes in romance.

I remember Stephen Montgomery as my first love. But, that all said, I do remember absolutely loving Highland Velvet back then, so much so that I re-read it a My first-ever romance novel.

He really made an effort for Bronwyn to respect him by being a Scot — wearing their clothes, training like them, talking like them, and even thinking like them.
